RATIONALE:
The wearing of a school uniform is supported by students, parents and staff at Copacabana Public School. Standards of dress and the wearing of the school uniform form part of our school rules.

AIMS:
· To encourage all students to wear a school uniform.
· To facilitate the purchase of school uniforms by the establishment of a School Uniform Shop.
· To expand the uniform options available to all students.
OBJECTIVES:
· To provide an attractive, comfortable and functional school uniform for all children K-6.
· To foster in children a respect for and care of their school uniform.
· To further promote the image of the school in the community.
· To enhance the self esteem of all students.
· To incorporate gender equity and sunsafe strategies in uniform style.
STRATEGIES:
1. Formation of a Uniform Working Party.
The Uniform Working Party will:
· consist of 2 staff members , 2 parents, and the Principal.
· consult with the school and community,
· communicate regularly with staff, parents & children through P & C meetings, staff meetings, assemblies, sandwich board & newsletter,
· coordinate the School Uniform Shop within the school grounds,
· establish a timeline for the implementation of the Uniform Policy,
· meet when necessary but not less than 4 times a year,
· operate within Department of School Education guidelines at all times.
2. Encourage all students to wear school uniform.
3. Gradually phase-in any new uniform options.
4. Choice of uniforms is offered to all families during the phase-in period.
5. All new enrolling students to adopt new uniform regulations.
6. Establishment of a Uniform Shop in the AV room which opens one morning a week from 8.30 - 8.55am.
7.Encourage all parents to label clothing.
EVALUATION:
· The school uniform is attractive, functional, and comfortable.
· All students wear the school uniform.
· The school community is supportive of the Uniform Policy.
· The school uniform enhances the school image.
· School Uniform Shop is successfully managed.
