About Us

Copacabana
Copacabana is situated in the Gosford shire on the Central Coast of New South Wales 100 kilometres from Sydney. It is a seaside township surrounded by natural bushland with a beautiful unspoilt beach, rock pool and lagoon. Copacabana has a unique village atmosphere with an approximate population of 2500 people. There is a regular bus service to Kincumber, Gosford and Erina Fair.

Public School
A
fully demountable school was established in 1983 and the permanent brick buildings
were completed in 1987. In 2008 there are 8 permanent classrooms and 3 demountable
buildings. The school has a modern Library, 2 Computer Labs, Audio-Visual Room,
Administration Block, Canteen, Covered Outdoor Learning Area and Hall as well
as spacious playing fields, gardens and fixed playing equipment. Many students
live within walking distance of the school whilst others travel by bus from as
far as Melville Street, Kincumber.
Staff
In
addition to the Principal, Ms Sue Lewis, there are 11 classroom teachers,
including 3 Assistant Principals. In 2008 the staffing component includes a part-time
Librarian(Tuesday to Friday), a Support Teacher Learning Difficulties (2 days per week), a School Counsellor (1 day
per week) and a Specialist Computer Teacher (4 days per week). Administrative Support
is provided by a full-time Senior School Assistant and School Assistant. Part-time
school administrative support staff include a School Assistant 1 day per week
and a General Assistant who keeps our grounds amongst the most beautiful Public
School grounds on The Central Coast.
All staff are enthusiastic professionals,
working together to form a quality school.
Learning Program
Copacabana
Public School offers quality teaching and learning programs. The school has a
strong emphasis on literacy, numeracy, technology, the performing arts and sport.
The school enjoys high levels of parent and community participation with parents
actively involved in sub-committees, fundraising, parent educational programs
and classroom activities.
